Biblical "Fasting" was never for dietary or weight losing purpose, but solely for the spiritual move of God for a circumstance, situation, the people or a person.  Our Lord Je'sus Christ was specific with the Twelve when a father brought is son to the disciple of Je'sus to cast out a "dumb" spirit.  The Disciples who already experienced cast out demons as they went, was sure this would be a piece of cake! But much to their chagrin, it took the Master Teacher Je'sus Christ of Nazareth to speak and this stubborn, yet power demonic was evicted and the boy was delivered. Later privately, the Disciple asked Je'sus "why could we not cast out this demon?"  Christ first states, their "unbelief" hindered them and secondly, THIS KIND comes out but by fasting and praying. (cf. Matthew 17).

In the Old Testament, fasting occurred for revival, direction, protection, choices that needed to be made. We will observe in careful study that, those who were in the fast or who called the fast; were chosen to do extraordinary task(s) for God.  Fasting is not to simply "deprive" ourselves of foods, but to bring our flesh, which profits us nothing; under the subjection of God the Father, through Je'sus Christ our Kinsman Redeemer, and finally renovated by the Holy Spirit.

Here will share a few Biblical Fast (too many to list here) that we at Infinite Motion participate and are encouraging others to consider. Through teaching, we know that prayer changes things, howbeit prayer with fasting delivers!   If you need more information regarding any of these Biblical Fast, e-mail us or utilize the e-mail form on our "Contact Us" page.  May God richly bless you eternally...

In HIS Service,

Dr. Renee Lannaman, Founder/Sr. Pastor

Disciple Fast : for achieving freedom from addiction(s), or from besetting sin in one's life.  Scripture reference: John 8:36; I Cor. 10:13, Acts 3:16; 16:18

This "Fast" is for an individual who really loves God, want to do what is right; but continues to fall back into environments, people, beds and encounters that are not Godly.  As with other Fast the significant reason to Fast is that it releases people from bondage(s) of sin. Many Christians are helpless victims to "besetting sins" (see Hebrews 12:1).  Besetting sins are not common sins of neglect or momentary lapse. Nor are they sins of rebellion, in which God says, "Thou shalt not" and the person says, "I will" in His Face. Besetting sins are habitual sinful behaviors or attitudes that victimize and enslave people. When besetting sins are the issue at hand, the person does not outrightly set out to do what they do not want to do, they are drawn in due to the lack of deliverance from the thing(s) or person(s). Satan loves the  Christians that sit in Church and claim salvation, then walk out the door in secret lives of sin.  Most besetting sins are of sexual nature, where the flesh passions and desires for something or someone they should not be involved with. Other besetting sins are "just got to have it", material idolotry, pride of life ("I" am this, that and more! See me, pat me on the back and TELL me I am great!).  When one chose to take control over their physical apppetite, you develop strength to take control of your emotional appetite.  God will reward those whom "diligently" seek Him.  Besetting sins are dangerous to the Christian especially, because of this violation, "having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof..."  God sits high and looks low. Nothing escapes His eyes of fire.

2009 is the year of Judgment for many circumstance, situations and people.  Private problems require private Fasting.  Seek the Lord while He may yet be found.

Ezra Fast: for any leader chosen to make decisions and protect people in the face of opposition.   Scripture reference: Ezra 8; Romans 8:28

This Fast was initiated and tells us in his book the story of the Jews traveling back from captivity in Persia. King Cyrus of Persia gave them permission to return in 538 B.C. and to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. First Zerubbabel led the people back to begin work on the Temple. The surrounding nations caused trouble, so the work went slowly, even stoppng for several years. The Temple was finally finished in 515 B.C.  Then Ezra the Priest, attempted to lead a second group of people back to Jerusalem.  He gathered them on the banks of the Ahava River, but realized they had a major problem, crossing badlands with caravans of wealth and a multitude of defenseless people, this was a problem and a leadership decision had to be made. The lands they needed to cross was infested with gangs thieves who attacked caravans. Ezra states in 8:22 of his book, "I was ashamed to request the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road." Ezra left Babylon depending solely on God, but when meet with what awaited them on the other side of the River Ahava, he had concerns.  At the end of this Fast, God showed Ezra the wisdom of God; to divide all the silver, gold and other precious materials for the Temple, among the 12 priest and made them accountable. The end of the matter God gave Ezra wisdom and protection, because Ezra stopped to inquire with God, and moved the people to do the same.   We want to make Godly decisions not emotional decisions. We will find that Ezra stopped the entire caravans and they "waited" for an answer (3 days) and God's Sovereignty prevailed.

Samuel Fast: for revival and soul-winning   Scripture Reference: Judges 21:25, Isa 58:6, Acts 3:19, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 1:22-23, Judges 11, Ps 85:6, 2 Chron 7:14

This Fast was initiated in the early eighteenth century, the great evangelist Jonathan Edwards fasted for 24 hours after reflecting on the time period of Samuel, the Book of Judges and what the people were doing at those times. Being grieved in his spirit about the state of the Church, the people of God living an empty life of rituals, religion, legalism and broken traditions; revival was the only prayer Jonathan Edwards could pray at the time. Jonathan Edwards was asked to possibly preach at the Church he was invited to come to in New England, so he fasted for God presence to move the people, didn't matter if he preached or not. The end of the matter was the preacher scheduled to preach was held up from attending, another preacher could not get a flight and it left Jonathan Edwards who was directed by God to Fast as he prayed for revival in the land. Jonathan Edwards preached a sermon many claims sparked the revival of New England that grew into the First Great Awakening.  The sermon was entitled, "SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF AN ANGRY GOD."

Before the sermon could be finished, people were crawling and crying to the altar pleading for mercy from God and asking "how can I be saved from God's wrath", "help me I am living in sin and many other accounts of people being overwhelmed with grief because the glory of the Lord filled the place, the Holy Spirit convicted and the people repented.  Multitudes of unbelievers became saved that day, this was God's answer to Jonathan Edwards' prayers for revival.

A prayer Revival swept throughout the nation in 1859, and some of it grew out of what might be called this Fast, because people did go without food after receiving instructions from the Revival Preaching of Jonathan Edwards.  Thereafter, people left their work at noon, walked quickly to the nearest Church, not the Churches of their memberships--and spent their lunch breaks in prayer. This also marks the beginning of inter-denominational worship.

This Samuel Fast is for anyone with a burden on their life and heart for the Body of Christ and soul-winning. Whether in your home, family, workplace, daily life.

Samuel as one of the judges who observed the people, living a up and down life; in and out of the presence of God. Was grieved, he watched Eli and his sons defile the house of God. His times of prayer and fasting, made a difference, Samuel was obedient to God all the days of his life, we need seek God likewise for Revival. Usher in the presence of God with this fast and prayer, rest assured life will never be what you expect!

We must observe and know the people who call upon the name of the Lord, many has kindled God wrath against them. In 2009 many shall encounter testing, but we at Infinite Motion in Christ Ministries believe God for a Revival in the land.

Not for money, not for members, not for fame, form or fashion...but soul winning for Christ Je'sus who strengthens us.
